Ireland big wave surfing video

Big wave surfing videos, Surf spots No Comments

Surfing in Ireland? Who would have guessed… That’s one bet I would have lost. But as you can see from the surfing video below, Ireland’s west coast has become a surf spot for big wave surfing over the past few years! The story illustrated in the video is called “Driven”, one of the most interesting surfing stories to come out of Britain.

Surfers Alastair Mennie and Andrew Cotton share their first experiences as a tow team, training sessions, and big wave surfing runs. See one of the most incredible wipeouts in world surfing and many huge wave sessions since. I love their tagline: “Experience the work, preparation, motivation and total commitment it takes to surf big waves in Ireland.” To learn more about the surfing documentary and see additional footage check out Driven’s production site.

Maui Jaws Surfing Videos

Big wave surfing videos No Comments

Having touched on Maui’s Jaws surfing in a previous entry, I thought I’d return and share some great surfing videos from Jaws in Maui, Hawaii. I clearly did not understand the magnitude of the waves that are produced off this shore in Maui. Having personally visited the surfing spot in August, I did not get the proper viewing due to the time of year. The earlier video does provide justice, but the videos below really paint the right picture for the surfing enthusiast. Jaws is hands down one of the best places for surfing in Maui. The first video from Jaws is of surfing legend Laird Hamilton.

From this video, you get a real sense of the waves size and can see how these big waves are the largest in the world. You have to be a daredevil to step into the waves at Jaws. As I’ve said, I love surfing videos. Time does not matter, as I can never get bored of watching some milfy vids. The next surfing video from Jaws is a lengthy one. So if you don’t think you can last the full 26 minutes, it’s understandable. That’s you. For me it’s no issue. But, if you are one who cannot last or does not have the time, I recommend watching even a few minutes and you’ll see the biggest waves of the year at Jaws. They are truly incredible and the best Maui surfing has to offer.

Now residing in San Francisco, I have made it a prerogative to make it to Jaws next winter. It is truly one of those things one must see with his/her own eyes. I have to give credit to the filmographers of these videos, in addition to all the surfing videos out there. Placing themselves in dangerous scenarios to capture something magical is priceless. Enjoy and I hope you’ll come again soon.

Free big wave surfing videos

Big wave surfing videos No Comments

I just got spammed with an ad saying pay to watch surfing videos online. I have found plenty great big wave videos for free across the web. Here are a few free big wave surfing videos that I thought were worth posting. The first big wave surf video is of a pro riding a tsunami wave. He had to be towed into the wave. This is insane! I would not mess around with tsunamis.

This next surfing video is one of my favorite big wave surfing videos. Set at Jaws, a daredevil surfer’s spot on the northern shore of Maui, where some of the biggest waves in the world exist. Known by Peahi to the locals, Jaws generates swells up to 50 feet high. This video was filmed in Maui on December 2004.

Jaws is totally only for professional surfers who dare to risk their lives to ride the biggest waves in the world. If you enjoy the big wave video above, you can watch a 1o minute version at Maui Video Podcast. The clip above is satisfying enough for me. Again, back to the point: there are plenty of free surfing videos online. Check back real soon for more surfing videos.
